Position Profile: The DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies invites applications from exceptional early-career researchers to be appointed at Assistant Professor (probationary). Candidates must have a PhD or near completion in Accounting, or a related area and must possess a record of scholarly research and publication in leading refereed journals, and evidence of excellent teaching ability, or evidence of potential in these areas (e.g., a stream of work-in-progress that has the potential to yield publications in quality journals). The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong research program, compete successfully for research funding, teach tax, financial accounting and related courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and contribute to ongoing curriculum and program development. Preference will be given to candidates who have earned the Canadian CPA designation or a broadly equivalent international/overseas professional accounting qualification

Academic Expectations when in the Role: The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Establish an active and high-impact research program;

• Compete successfully for external research funding;

• Teach tax, financial reporting and/or related courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; and

• Contribute to curriculum and program development

Applicants will be considered for a probationary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required: Applicants must hold a PhD or near completion in Accounting or in a relevant field, and demonstrate scholarly excellence, including publication in leading refereed journals (or papers that are in the R and R stage with good prospects of acceptance). Candidates with strong empirical and analytical expertise are especially encouraged to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who have earned the Canadian CPA designation or a broadly equivalent international/overseas professional accounting qualification.

Service: DAN Management is a highly collegial working environment, and the successful candidate should be willing to serve on committees and engage in external citizenship (e.g., be willing to review for peer reviewed journals).

Assistant Professor, Accounting, Edwards School of Business

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting, Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027 (or negotiable).   

The successful candidate will be joining a research intensive environment and will be expected to contribute to excellence in research and scholarship through high quality peer reviewed publications in their areas of expertise. Preferred candidates will have their primary research interest in the area of financial accounting and reporting, sustainability reporting, or taxation, along with a desire to teach these subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All research methodologies will be considered with a preference for expertise in judgment and decision making research methods.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Accounting or equivalent. Candidates near the completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply providing the requirements for the Ph.D. degree will be completed imminently. Possessing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation will be an asset. Although the Department is seeking an Assistant Professor, exceptionally qualified, experienced and accomplished candidates may also apply. Ranks and salary will be based on academic and professional qualifications, experience and accomplishments of the successful candidate.

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Assurance

The School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Accounting -Assurance with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. In the case of an exceptional candidate, appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure may be considered.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in accounting or a related field by the start date of the appointment. We are seeking candidates who have research expertise in assurance (e.g., financial statement audit, internal audit, assurance services). While not required, preference will be given to candidates specializing in experimental or behavioural methods. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a record of, or potential for, both publishing research in high-quality journals and high-quality teaching. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, contributing to the service needs of the School of Accounting and Finance, and developing and directing accounting research, education, and practice-relevant thought leadership. While not required, a professional designation in accounting or assurance would also be an asset.

Starting compensation in the range of $240,000.00 to $270,000.00 is anticipated, based on qualifications and experience. Negotiations beyond this range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
