OVERVIEW
Education sessions emphasize hands-on pedagogy, curriculum design, and classroom engagement, distinct from the Research program’s scholarly paper presentations.
Proposals should demonstrate innovation, relevance, and practical application—offering interactive learning experiences and tangible takeaways for educators across universities, colleges, and professional programs.
We welcome proposals from experienced presenters as well as educators who are new to the CAAA Annual Conference. Collaborative proposals that bring together perspectives from academia, professional education, and practice are particularly encouraged.

SESSION TYPES
- Workshops (45 or 90 minutes): Participant-centered sessions featuring demonstrations, simulations, or collaborative activities.
- Panels (60 or 75 minutes): Moderated discussions on key issues in accounting education, with active audience participation.
- NEW SESSION TYPE FOR 2027 – CAAA Ideas Lab for Accounting Educators (25 minutes): Designed for emerging ideas, feedback, and presenter development. Please see below for details.
NEW SESSION TYPE: CAAA IDEAS LAB
Designed for Emerging Ideas, Feedback, and Presenter Development
A dynamic, interactive space to test fresh ideas, spark conversations, and learn from the CAAA education community. Ideal for emerging teaching innovations, focused ideas that benefit from discussion rather than a full workshop, and faculty who are new to presenting at the CAAA Annual Conference. Bring an idea, invite feedback, and leave with new perspectives and connections to help move it forward.
The Ideas Lab offers:
- A right-sized format: A strong teaching idea does not necessarily require a 45- or 90-minute session to make a meaningful contribution.
- Opportunities to test emerging ideas: Presenters can share an idea at an early stage and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to help further develop or refine an educational innovation or initiative.
- A development opportunity: Particularly suited to educators and other contributors who are new to presenting at the CAAA Annual Conference and would like to gain presentation experience in a welcoming, interactive environment.
The Ideas Lab may be a good fit if you:
- have an emerging teaching idea that would benefit from discussion and feedback;
- are developing a new classroom activity, assessment, game, tool, or educational resource;
- would like to test an idea before investing in a full workshop proposal;
- are looking for an opportunity to gain presentation experience in a welcoming, interactive environment; or
- would prefer a discussion-focused format for sharing ideas and connecting with colleagues.
Format:
- Ideas Lab presenters will briefly introduce their idea (approximately 10 minutes) followed by participant discussion and feedback (approximately 15 minutes).
