Practitioner Discussant: Anish Chopra, Portfolio Management Corporation

Anish Chopra is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Portfolio Management Corporation, a boutique investment manager. Prior to this, he oversaw over $100 billion in investment management mandates at TD Asset Management. 

In the community, Anish serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the CBV Institute and on the Investment Committee of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. 

Anish holds a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Accounting (Gold Medalist) from the University of Waterloo. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCA), a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Business Valuator (Canadian Gold Medalist).

 

 

How Does a Firm’s Rumor Response Practice Affect Investors’ Reactions to Rumors? 

Practitioner Discussant: Dominique Barker, CIBC Capital Markets

Dominique Barker is Managing Director and Head of Sustainability Advisory at CIBC Capital Markets. She is responsible for developing a range of financial and advisory solutions to meet CIBC clients’ sustainability goals. She also leads key strategic initiatives, including Carbonplace – a global carbon credit transaction network. Ms. Barker is a member of the Institute for Sustainable Finance Research Advisory Council; co-chair of the Bank of Canada Canadian Fixed Income Sustainable Finance Virtual Network. 

Previously, Ms. Barker was a Portfolio Manager at CIBC Asset Management. She managed institutional socially responsible investments, Canadian value and Canadian real estate portfolios, and led efforts to incorporate ESG factors into all investment processes. 

Prior to joining CIBC Asset Management in 2010, Ms. Barker held roles in research, institutional equity sales, investment banking, audit, and corporate advisory at several well-known global firms. 

Ms. Barker holds an MBA degree in Accounting from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (civil environmental) from Queen’s University. She is also a CFA charterholder and holds the FSA (Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting) credential. Ms. Barker also volunteers in her local community, including schools, mentoring, and United Way.
