SAP AG–CAAA Research Grant

is no longer available

The broad purpose of this fund is to encourage Canadian accounting academics to undertake research of relevance to IT research and practice. Applied research leading to publication in scholarly and/or practice-oriented journals is particularly encouraged.

Research Themes

SAP AG is interested in receiving letters of intent through this program on topics including, but not limited to the following themes:

  • Integrating information technology within the accounting curriculum.
  • The use of information technology to support corporate governance initiatives.
  • Audit/assurance issues arising from the introduction and/or use of ERP systems in organizations.
  • Integration of accounting information along the supply-chain.
  • Integration of accounting and information technology in e-business, e-commerce or e-government initiatives.

Funding Criteria

The main funding criteria are that the work be relevant to theory or practice, be completed on a timely basis, and be of high quality.

The relevance of the work will be ensured by SAP AG’s review of the letter of intent. Timeliness must be addressed by the provision of a detailed time line within the final proposal submitted by the researchers. All projects must be completed within 24 months of the initial granting of the funds. Project completion is defined as the production of a working paper which has been submitted to a peer-reviewed conference. This requirement does not preclude continuation of the project as necessary. Review of the proposals by a research committee designed specifically for this program of research made up of CAAA members with expertise in information systems technology will ensure the quality of the proposals funded.
