The CAAA is pleased to announce the results of the 2011 competition under the CGA-Canada–CAAA Research Grant Program:

  • Ole-Kristian Hope (University of Toronto), "Financial Reporting Quality in Private Firms." Award: $6,000.
  • Daniel Coulombe (Laval University), Suzanne Paquette (Laval University), and Ines Ben Salah, (King Fahd University of Petrolium and Minerals),"Pension Plan Disclosures of Canadian Firms." Award: $4,000.

2010

The CAAA is pleased to announce the results of the 2010 competition under the CGA-Canada–CAAA Research Grant Program:

  • Jeffrey Pittman (Memorial University of Newfoundland), "Political Connections and Accounting Transparency Incentives: The Importance of Auditor Choice." Award: $9,750.
  • Sylvain Durocher (University of Ottawa) and Anne Fortin (University of Quebec at Montreal), "Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises: An Adoption Behavior Study." Award: $5,000.

2009

The CAAA is pleased to announce the results of the 2009 competition under the CGA-Canada–CAAA Research Grant Program. A total of $10,000 was available for the 2009 research grant call. Four research proposals were received and one project was selected for the award:

  • Fred Phillips (University of Saskatchewan),Problem-Solving Errors and Misconceptions.” Award: $10,000.

2008

The CAAA is pleased to announce the results of the most recent competition under the CGA-Canada–CAAA Research Grant Program. A total of $20,000 was available for the 2008 research grant call. Five research proposals were received. Two of the five were selected for the award.  

  • Sylvie Heroux (University of Quebec at Montreal), “IT Governance and Strategic Control of Web Site Content.” Award: $10,000.
  • Gary Spraakman (York University), “The Use and Future Use of Data Mining in the Practice of Management Accounting.” Award: $10,000.
