Grant MacEwan UniversityFaculty School Advisor (Accounting Major) (Posted: June 15, 2010) Faculty School Advisor (Accounting Major) The Bachelor of Commerce program at City Centre Campus invites applications for a Faculty/School Advisor for the newly implemented Accounting major. This is a full-time continuing position in the MacEwan School of Business. The successful candidate will work with a team providing services to students in an environment which includes a four-year baccalaureate program. Program advising responsibilities include advising students both individually and in large groups, developing students’ academic and graduation plans, providing accurate information regarding degree and career options, interpreting university policies and procedures as they relate to students, and working collaboratively with other advisors. Duties also include student recruiting, student registration assistance, advising materials development, career search support, developing student success strategies and other related duties. Applicants will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce. A professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) is desirable. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and time management skills, be attentive to detail, be flexible and have the ability to present to large groups. Post-secondary academic and career advising experience is preferred. Applications should include a resume, post-secondary transcripts and the names of three references.
