Faculty Position in Accounting

The Faculty of Management of the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2010.

Duties include developing and maintaining an active research program aimed at making a significant contribution to the profession, teaching in the Faculty’s undergraduate programs, as well as contributing to other teaching and administrative initiatives of the Faculty of Management. Applicants with primary teaching interests in management accounting, financial reporting, tax, and/or auditing and the ability to teach in one or more of these areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be considered.  Candidates should have completed (or nearly completed) their doctoral studies.

The Faculty of Management has recently entered into an exciting new alliance with the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus.  The Sauder School is internationally recognized for the quality and impact of its research and is Canada’s leading research business school.  This new partnership will further enhance the research environment for faculty in the Faculty of Management and will provide exciting new teaching opportunities at the graduate and undergraduate level for faculty on both campuses.

UBC Okanagan opened in September 2005 as a distinctive, small university campus. It provides an intimate learning community -- where students interact with one another and their professors on a daily basis, while becoming global citizens through interaction with their community and the world. UBC Okanagan is located in the City of Kelowna (population of 107,000) which serves as the transportation, business and service hub of the Okanagan Valley. The Valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains and boasts wonderful lakes, pine forests, orchards and vineyards, sandy beaches, and superb amenities. In this beautiful physical environment, UBC Okanagan is earning a reputation as an important, respected centre of learning and research, enhancing knowledge creation and innovation in the Okanagan.

Applicants should send a curriculum vita, one or two research papers, and record of teaching effectiveness and should arrange for the submission of three letters of reference.  Candidates are encouraged to apply before February 15, 2010 but we will consider all applications until the position is filled.
