Regional Meetings 

The CAAA has been investigating ways to offer more education-oriented programs to its members, especially beyond the annual conference framework. The exceptional success of the educational sessions at the annual conferences over the past five years has encouraged this initiative.

The Co-Managing Director met with the publishers to investigate whether there were means available to allow the development of such programs by cooperating together. There was agreement in principle that regional workshops, aimed at furthering educators' learning, was a concept that would benefit all concerned. We have issued an open invitation to all publishers, whether acting singly or in concert, to develop suitable programs in partnership with us. The first such cooperative venture, a Pearson Education Canada Workshop in partnership with the CAAA, was held in 2002 in Toronto. Hopefully there will be many more to come, based in various major centres across the country.

In addition, we would look to partner with the national accounting bodies to bring forth education-related programs with them to Canadian educators. Again, these could be singly or in concert with all the bodies together.
