The 2008 Contemporary Accounting Research Conference will be held in Québec City, the capital of the province of Québec. Québec City is one of the oldest cities in North America and our conference coincides this year with the city’s 400th anniversary. The city is celebrating its history and culture, and will impress conference delegates with its historic upper and lower cities, beautiful architecture, quaint cobblestone streets and picturesque views of the St. Lawrence River.
The theme of the conference is “Accounting Matters” and this year’s stimulating program includes current research exploring the role and impact of accounting, and/or accountants, within society, and the relevant global challenges faced by accountants. This year, in addition to paper presentations and related discussions,we will feature a special guest speaker, David Hirshleifer from the University of California (Irvine). Professor Hirshleifer, who has published in economics, finance and accounting, will speak about new developments in finance and how they are likely to influence accounting research.
The CAAA is pleased to announce that The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), a Distinguished Partner and Titanium Event Sponsor, is the exclusive sponsor of the 23rd Contemporary Accounting Research (CAR) Conference.
