November 6 - 7, 2009
(plus Doctoral Consortium on November 5th)

Theme: Broadening our Horizons

The 2009 Contemporary Accounting Research Conference will be held in Montréal (Québec) and takes place in a venue located in Old Montréal, one of North America's unique heritage sites where French and British influences merge to create an Old World atmosphere. The conference hotel is a few steps away from Montreal's Old Harbour and Science Center and is close to some of North America's oldest monuments.

The theme of the conference is Broadening our Horizons” and it builds upon CAR's tradition of encouraging and fostering diversity in accounting research. This year’s program includes current research exploring the role and impact of accounting, and/or accountants, within society, from auditing, management accounting and financial accounting perspectives. In addition to paper presentations and related discussions, the program will also feature a special guest speaker, Christian Leuz from the University of Chicago. Professor Leuz, who has published extensively on international accounting issues, will speak about global accounting convergence and how it will affect the environment we evolve in as well as our research.
