The Ph.D. Student/Junior Faculty consortium is on Thursday, October 27, the day preceding the CAR Conference. All Ph.D. students at Canadian Universities who have completed at least one year in their program and all faculty at Canadian Universities who completed their doctorates less than five years ago are invited to attend. The registration fee for Ph.D. students is $55 and for junior faculty $110, in addition to the conference registration fee.
This year’s doctoral consortium features three internationally renowned scholars (from the London School of Economics, Wim van der Stede and from the Kelley School of Business at Indiania University (Bloomington), Patrick Hopkins and Leslie Hodder). Wim will lead a discussion of the many faces of management accounting research that are featured at this conference. Patrick and Leslie will talk about the complementarities and competition between financial accounting research that has been carried out using archival and experimental methods. By the end of the consortium PhD students will have a greater appreciation for the set of papers that are going to be presented at this year’s CAR Conference. (Presenter Bios)
At the end of the day, there will be a chance for one on one and small group discussion between the speakers and the audience. Each speaker will take one of the four corners of the room and participants can circulate and discuss the day’s presentations with the presenters.
