Accounting with a Point!

This year marks a special milestone for the CAR Conference as we proudly celebrate its 25th anniversary. The conference will be held on November 5th and 6th at the Four Points Sheraton hotel in downtown Kingston, Ontario, home of Queen's University and one of Canada’s oldest cities known for its limestone buildings and for being the first capital of the United Province of Canada. Kingston is conveniently located just off of Highway 401 at the centre of the hub between Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Syracuse.

The theme of this year’s conference is Accounting with a Point!”, and the conference program reflects an excellent cross-section of papers from financial accounting, management accounting and audit employing a variety of research paradigms to make a clear statement about the “point” the authors’ research makes about “the role of accounting in organizations, markets or society”.

In recognition of the 25th Anniversary of the CAR Conference, the Canadian Academic Accounting Association has authorized a special issue (No. 5 in 2011) that will feature a selection of papers from the 25th CAR Conference as well as other significant papers.  This volume will be released at the time of the 26th CAR Conference in 2011.

As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the conference, we also wish to honour our past hence we will be returning to a University setting for our Friday evening Social event at the Queen’s University Club. We will also recognize our newly appointed CAR Editor Emeritus and the founding members of the Honourary Editorial Board.  This unique event reflects the CAAA and CAR’s interest in celebrating our past while moving forward with an inclusive, international  accounting research agenda that is rigourous and relevant.
