BE IT ENACTED as a by-law of THE CANADIAN ACADEMIC ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATION (the "Corporation"), which was incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act (the "Act") or a predecessor thereof, as follows:
PART 1 - CORPORATE SEAL
1.1 Seal. The seal, an impression whereof is stamped in the margin hereof, shall be the seal of the Corporation.
PART 2 - CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP
2.1 Membership. Membership in the Corporation shall be limited to persons interested in furthering the objects of the Corporation and shall consist of anyone whose application for admission as a member has received the approval of an officer of the Corporation.
2.2 Classes of Membership. There are to be the following classes of membership:
2.2.1 Regular Member — A person interested in promoting interest in and the study of accounting in any of its branches and related disciplines;
2.2.2 Student Member — A full-time student at a post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States of America who is interested in promoting interest in and the study of accounting in any of its branches and related disciplines or a full-time student at a post-secondary institution located elsewhere, who is interested in promoting interest in and the study of accounting in any of its branches and related disciplines, who also agrees to forego receiving the hard copies of our journals and accepts that s/he will have access only to the electronic versions of these journals. Should the student wish to receive said hard copies, s/he would have to join at the Regular Member’s rate (but would still qualify for the other student-related operational discounts);
2.2.3 Retired Member — A person who has reached the age of sixty-five or has retired from full-time employment who is interested in promoting interest in and the study of accounting in any of its branches and related disciplines;
2.2.4 Life Member — A person who has made a one-time donation of $10,000 or more to the Corporation.
2.3 Dues. There shall be fees or dues as determined by the directors and confirmed by the members. The fees or dues may be different for different classes of member.
2.4 Resignation of Membership. Any member may withdraw from the Corporation by delivering to the Corporation a written resignation and lodging a copy of the same with the Secretary of the Corporation.
2.5 Termination of Membership. A membership in the Corporation may be terminated by a vote of the directors at a directors’ meeting, provided that any such member shall be granted an opportunity to be heard at such meeting.
